It's Monday .....

.... my favorite day of the week!! I'd like to give the ladies at Mojo Monday the credit for Monday being my favorite day, but the truth is, it's always been my favorite day. Monday's are what I consider a fresh start; it's a whole new week to make a difference or save the world. Since I'm not likely to be doing any world saving, I'll have to settle for making a difference in some small way. :)

Today's sketch challenge over at Mojo Monday is wonderful. I'm working from home today and could not help myself, I had to stop and make a card. I just love how this card turned out. The colors in this DP set are fabulous. I love blues and greens and when the two marry and make BlueGreen... well then I'm in heaven.

I took an extra fine Prisma marker to the sentiment and gave it a bit of a broken outline. You can see it if you enlarge the card all the way. I was thrilled that it showed up in the picture.

Not much in the way of supplies but here is the list:
Stamp: Verve
Paper: Bazzill textured black and white (reverse side); Kaisercraft DP Chapter One
Extras: SU! ribbon, Kaisercraft pearls, SU! punches; Prisma Marker Black

Thank you for stopping by and Happy Monday!!!

PS - If you are thinking to yourself "What kind of a freak likes Mondays???"; you are not alone. Every single one of my friends states my love of Mondays (all on it's own) qualifies me for the "freak of nature" title; we won't get into the other long list of reasons I'm holding that title. :D

Mojo Monday 193 - Party Animal

I haven't participated in Mojo Monday in some time, but I really liked the layout this week and needed a card for my nephew so thought I'd jump in. Of course the cut-off is minutes away, nothing like racing the clock. :)

I'm so pleased with how this card turned out. I bought this DP in error and thought I would be hard pressed to use it, but it really was a great choice for this sketch challenge. Not much more to say about the card other than I plan to add a layer of Stickles (Star Dust) to the blue frame to match the sparkle on the lions ruff.

Supplies:
Stamp: SU! It's Your Birthday
Ink: Momento Black
Paper: Kaisercraft 6x6 Party Animal; SU! Pumpkin and textured white; Bazzill Horizon
Extras: Maya Road Trinket pins; Stickles

Thanks for stopping by.

Mojo Monday 176 - Birthday for Mom

Yesterday Dallas was hit with a winter storm. Though nothing like what poor Chicago and the east coast are getting, its enough to cause a fair amount of chaos here in the metroplex. Dallas just isn't equipped to handle this kind of weather. In the 15 years I've lived here this is only the second time I've been house bound.

However there is a silver lining in everything; in this case I was able to make two cards yesterday. Mojo176 is for my Mom; she turns 77 years young this week and I really wanted to make something special for her. Mom's favorite color is yellow, and unfortunately my least favorite, which means that I rarely (as in this is only the second card ever) use this color. I struggled with this card all day and I'm still not happy with it; however I think it's simply because it's yellow and not that it's an ugly card. I'm sure she will like it regardless of my feelings about it. :)

Thank you for stopping by.

Mojo Triple Play

It's been several weeks since I've been able to do any crafting or other fun things. On December 29th, I took a pretty bad fall and unfortunately it messed up my knees enough to keep me down for a few weeks. My hands and wrists weren't doing so well either for at least a week after the fall. Luckily I hit my head on the dirt so no issues there. I had to keep my right knee up and iced for two weeks and then of course closing the year end books at work kept me away from crafts until this weekend.

So here are three Mojo Monday Sketches (two of which I started when they appeared but didn't get a chance to finish) including todays sketch.

Thank you for popping in.

MOJO MONDAY 174:

I've been holding this stamp and paper aside for some weeks now waiting for the perfect sketch, and I think 174 is it.
Stamp by Inkadinkado; Paper by Basic Grey; Buttons by SU and Basic Grey; Ribbon unknown.

MOJO MONDAY 172 and Always With Heart - Sunday Scraps:

I really love how this one came out. This is a double challenge; Mojo Monday and Jules' Sunday Scraps (I would link, but for the life of me I can not figure out how to make them work).

Jules has set a challenge goal to use her stack of scraps every Sunday. Like Jules, I have bags and bags of scrap DP, CS, ribbon; even half stamped/colored items. The goal is to not cut into anything new or whole, but to use only the scraps. The Mojo Monday 172 sketch is just perfect for using up scraps. In the case of this card, there is a huge ink blob on the blue card stock under the circle and square. I also only had enough ribbon to make a quick fold under. That ribbon doesn't even go all the way under the circle. :) I was able to get just enough Dasher paper together to pull this off, and my Old Olive card stock is more scraps than whole sheets so that wasn't an issue. This was just so much fun to make this card happen.

Stamps - Verve Kind Words; DP by Basic Grey (Dasher); bling by Kaiser Craft; card stock SU and Bazzil; Ribbon unknown.

MOJO MONDAY 171:

UGH!! The center panel is on there crooked and I didn't even notice until after I took the picture. Oh well. I like how this one turned out. The Mambo Melon trim looks really bright in the photo, but It blends beautifully IRL. I used a lot of different products to make this one come together.
Stamps - Verve Beautiful Kindness and SU!s Aviary; Basic Grey Paper and brad; SU Chocolate Chip and Mambo Melon card stock and Chocolate chip craft ink; SU! Mambo Melon ribbon.

Mojo Monday 170 - Last Minute Minnie

As usual I was not happy with the Christmas card I made for my best friend; so last evening (1am) I took it apart and started over. I was up until 4am making it right but have to admit it was worth it. I know she will love this card.

I'll be heading out shortly so I wanted to take a few minutes to get it posted.

Merry Christmas to all the friends I've made and to all those that will become friends in the new year.

Mojo Monday 167 - Mistletoe & Oliver

I must really like this weeks Mojo sketch because I couldn't stop at one card. I think thats a first for me to make two different cards in one day. Also, I can now add to my accomplishments the making of a round card. I looked all through my notes and gallery and was surprised to discover I hadn't made one before. I have to admit that it's pretty darn easy to make a round card with the new Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities.

Thank you for stopping by ..... :)

The first card is a Christmas card that I'll probably make a few of. I'll definitely use larger inner circles on the next ones I make. This one is too top heavy and that big dead space on the bottom left is screaming at me to "fix it"!!

The second card is for my nephews' birthday. He won't care that it's handmade, but my lovely sister-in-law likes my cards so I make them for her. The jury is still out on this one; I think it came out too busy with all the different DP's. Since Nic's birthday isn't for awhile, I might take it apart and change out the lowest layer (trains) and replace it with a solid in a complimenting color.

SUPPLIES LIST:
Christmas Card= Stamp-SU Best Yet; CS-Cranberry Crisp; DP-Memory Box Mistletoe; Other-Memory Box Pearls, Prima Holiday Poinsettias, Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities.

Birthday Card= Stamp-SU Well Scripted; CS-Bazzill Simon; Ink-Blue Bayou; DP-Basic Grey Oliver Collection

A Mojo Monday and Teapot Tuesday

I've had such a great weekend making cards. I did four challenges since Friday night but only have time to post one right now.

This card covered two of the four challenges I completed; Mojo Monday and Teapot Tuesday.

I struggled with Mojo Monday all week and every idea I had was ehhh. On Friday night I decided to look at the Inspiration challenge on SCS, but that really didn't do anything for me. Then jumped over to Teapot Tuesday (hosted by the fabulous Cindy Mothermark) and Yeah!! there it was. My inspiration. This weeks teapot was a black and white damask and the minute I saw it I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I changed the rectangle card to a square (not sure if that means I'm disqualified) but with the lovely set I wanted to use I had to go square.

Thank you for looking in.

Ooops ... forgot to post supplies:

Stamps: Penny Black Background Word; Fancy Pants (actually I'm not sure what this set is I've had it for ages and lost all the identifiers)
Card Stock: SU! Whisper white; Bazzill Raven and Heidi
Ink: Memento; Distress Ink Milled Lavender
Embellishments: Ribbon and tulle netting from fabric store; Karen Foster stick pin; SU! pearls

Mojo Monday 162 - Life's Moments

This is my first posted Mojo Monday. I have been following the blog for about a year or more, but usually don't post my cards as they tend to be last minute creations that immediately are given away. Not so today.

Just about everything conspired to keep this card from happening today; starting with not being able to locate the paper I wanted to use, right down to the nasty cut on my hand from setting up the photo tent and lights.

I really liked MM162 and knew right away what I wanted to do with it. The final product is off only by the pearls. I have larger pearls that match the smaller ones, but can not find them, which I was going to add to the top of the brownish strip.

Oh and I tried to use the new seam binding ribbon ..... ROFL!! Clearly it's hard to get nice results, even if all the mega talented ladies out there make it look easy! I'll revisit the ribbon some other day. :)

Stamps: SU! Elements of Style
Paper: SU! Soft Suede, Cherry Cobbler; Basic Grey Wassail
Embellishments: Memory Box Pearls; Recollections Boutique Fleur
