WOYWW #86
Well nothing new this Wednesday; same kitchen counter, same mess.
I'm currently working on a card for my best friends daughter. Arin will be 16 soon and I wanted to make a Sweet 16 card, but nothing is working. I've pulled out a pink pearl flourish, and painted and glittered clipboard (the 16) but the only thing I like with the pink is black. Now I can't decide if black is appropriate for a 16 year old girl. I know that not so long ago when I was 16 .... **looks around for the lightening to strike** .... I would have loved a black and pink card. However thats me and not Arin. I'm thinking I need to let this go and change directions; maybe try again to make something in lavender, her favorite color.
As for the use of the kitchen counter as my craft space; there is light at the end of this tunnel. I found a cabinet maker who is going to draw up a "desk" for me. I found a really simple counter height table at Crate & Barrel 2; its the perfect height and size for my small craft room. However the one at C&B2 was $500 and white laminate, no way was I paying that for something so simple. We discussed modifications and once we work out a final design I should have a great desk in 6 to 8 weeks. Woohoo!!!
Looking forward to getting my pretty kitchen back to rights.
This is a picture of the C&B table ...

Your new desk will be fab, and I like the pink and black card you have so far made, but know the struggle to make teenage cards, I've just had to make one for an 18 year old nephew, I went black and silver hehe (it's on my blog if you want to check it out) :)

Love your desk - nice and messy - full of things to look at - I also had a look at your blog and cards - you make very nice things! Many, many years ago I lived in Texas...a bit nostalgic here! The desk you picked looks very nice - hopefully the man can make something as nice as that and it will cost less!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day!
Hugs,
Cardarian
Carol, I love what you are doing with the pink and black and I would go for it if I were you...
ReplyDeleteI just had an order for a girl that age and the request was for a card in black and white and big splash of red (this card is on my blog and Eileen in UK copied it and kindly linked back to me when she put her version on her blog, if you are interested).
Anyway, me-thinks unless your sixteen year old is very different she would adore the pink and black.. I cant wait to see you new space.. fun to come!
thanks for popping by,

Pink and black would be good, very grown up, but pink and lavender would also work too. Yep, there's a lot of over priced storage out there on the market, you definitely pay for the name!

Great desk! Thought I was looking at my own! :) I spied some of my favorite things. Sounds like C&B are really proud of their creations! Glad you are getting one made. Thanks for sharing

I can't believe the C and B desk is that much. It looks like a great design, but I could make it for around $60.00 US. Glad you have someone to make it for you and your craft room will soon be out of the kitchen. Happy belated WOYWW from #10.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing the new, purpose built desk. Most teenage girls seem to be in to purple and shades of that. Apparently, it is the favourite colour these days, according ot our local radio station' survey.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your new desk. I like the height of it! And your workdesk this week? Oh yes, I love a "busy" and inspiring setting :)

have an art-filled weekend and thanks for stopping by!
Lots of good stuff to look at on your worktop, I spotted those cool felties from Basic Grey, they are fab.
ReplyDeleteYour new desk is going to look great, look forward to seeing it!
Pink and black would be good...try it!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. A fly-tipper is someone who deposits their rubbish in the coutryside instead of taking it to the recycling centre or rubbish collection point. They do this dreadful thing at night and are very unpopular here.
Do give collage a try ....great for using up the left-overs.
